Paul Burbedge

Professional ballroom dancer and teacher, Paul Burbedge, has been dancing since the age of 9. He has danced competitively in the USA, Japan and New Zealand, as well as various countries across Europe, representing Scotland and New Zealand in World Championship competitions. His competitive dancing career has spanned 20 years, giving him the knowledge and deep understanding that makes him the talented and intuitive dance teacher that he is today.

Lessons with Paul are relaxed and enjoyable and his down-to-earth manner is ideally suited for the absolute beginner, as well as the more proficient pupil. He believes that nothing is impossible – it simply requires the combination of time, imagination and a freeing of the mind in order that the inner potential can be released.

Working with a dynamic ‘energy’ approach makes it possible to achieve the elusive quality of two bodies moving as if they were one. This energy technique is particularly relevant in Ballroom Dancing and is an invaluable skill transferable to all walks of life, be it social or work.

In 2005 Paul created Strictly Fun Dancing taking classes at various venues in London. In circa 2007 he was asked to teach ballroom dancing at Guildford School of Acting and in 2010 he took over the responsibility of the Grafton. Much of his time is spent managing the weekly classes whilst facilitating the management of other classes and hires. In addition he also oversees a programme of maintenance and repair to the structure of the building.

Strictly Fun Dancing continues to provide classes in Shirley, near Croydon.
